Victorian walnut 4 door credenza
This magnificent Victorian walnut 4 door credenza is of exhibition quality and was made circa 1870.
It would have been made for one of the more important homes of the Victorian period, gracing the drawing room to show the owners wealth, success, and importance in society.
Commissioned to made to the highest quality with little regard to the ultimate price.
4 door credenza’s are rare and provide a lot of storage space behind the double cupboard doors, that reveal shelves covered in a rich red velvet.
The bow glass doors at each end provide superb display areas.
To each side of the double doors are columns, the capitals being fine Corinthian capitals in gilt bronze, with exceptional detailing.
Each panel door with central inlaid motifs with the Harewood borders stained green and fine box strung design.
Running around the plinth you again have fine cast bronze mounts as well as to the upper apron, and then beading running along the shaped outline of the top.
The apron also has fine inlaid decoration.
It is hard to describe the quality of this cabinet, even the images do not really transmit how stunning this Victorian walnut 4 door credenza is.
