Victorian leather ottoman
This Victorian leather ottoman was made circa 1880 originally a trunk.
This would make fantastic storage in a bedroom or drawing room, or hall.
The claret deep buttoned leather lid lifts using the brass swing handle, that is held once opened by a leather stay. When opened it reveals a fully lined interior.
To each end it is fitted a brass period carrying handle.
We have totally re-upholstered this ottoman using our specialist leatherworker.
The raw Grade 1 English leather is secured to the ottoman using individual brass studs, each tapped in one at a time, a job that is not only skilful but requires tremendous patience. The claret leather is then hand dyed before the many processes needed to get it to the wonderful antique finish. This finish gives the impression it has been on this all its life.
Originally this would not have had an upholstered top.
