Victorian satinwood military chest
This Victorian satinwood military chest was made circa 1870
It is rare for a chest of this type to be made of Satinwood.
This military chest has the original flush brass handles and inset corner straps that are there to give protection when it was being transported and the rigours of campaign.
A British Officer would have commissioned this Satinwood military chest to take on campaign. It was made in 2 parts for ease of transportation around the British Empire around 1870-1900. Packed in its 2 parts into packing cases, and then loaded onto wagons to be transported on a wagon.
If only this campaign/military chest could talk!!! Imagine the stories it could retell.
