Description

Antique oak dresser base
This Antique oak dresser base was made in the last half of the 18th century. It would have been made in a large country estate workshop for one of the tenant farmers homes, quite often by farming the timber from fallen or redundant trees on the estate.
The dresser has 3 drawers along the top and then a full cupboard below the drawers with a panelled cupboard door each end, to access the storage and shelf from either end.
This is a very versatile piece of furniture that gives you plenty of storage with little or no wasted space. Imagine how much you can store in this.
A dresser was the original must have for the farmhouse kitchen or large country house and were only superseded by the modern flatpack kitchen units.
Due to the versatility of these country dressers they still play a part in the modern home. They can be used in halls, drawing rooms, dining rooms and landings of your home.
Imagine placing this in your home and how good it will look, the many comments you will get as well as the conversations that will strike up about the times this has lived through. It is incredible that this dresser has seen not only the Georgian period, but the Victorian times of rapid progress with the industrial revolution, man first flight, landing on the moon and now the modern computer age. If only it could talk!!
