William IV mahogany secretaire bookcase
We are delighted to offer you this William IV mahogany secretaire bookcase.
This bookcase would have been made circa 1830.
The top glazed section, fitted with 2 doors with Gothic influence in the glazing bars.
Running down each door is a half column of twisted rope design, in commemoration of the Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar.
This rope design is seen on many other items of furniture from the Regency period and to William IV furniture, especially on dining chairs and sideboards.
The base section has one long drawer, that pulls open to reveal brass buttons that when pressed, allow you to drop the front down to use as a desk.
The desk interior with pigeon holes and drawers. The writing surface with a baize work area.
Below the drawer is a pair of panel cupboard doors that open to revealĀ  series of shelves.
This striking bookcase stands on its original turned mahogany feet.
