Antique Anglo-Indian camphorwood chest

Here we have this superb Merchants trunk constructed in solid camphorwood.
This trunk has very attractive shaped brass corner straps, that are for practical reasons, to protect this during its long and arduous journeys.
This would have been used by a very wealthy family or merchant to store a precious cargo of possessions or silk robes.
The lid opens with wonderful shaped brass hinges, to reveal a full storage area.
To each end is a brass carrying handle.
