Queen Anne walnut chest
Here we have this delightful country made walnut chest with herringbone cross-banding
The chest with the attractive feature of 3 small box drawers along the top and a further 3 long graduated drawers.
The chest stands on bracket feet.
As this chest was country made the sides are as expected made of oak. The best timber (walnut) was used on the front of the piece as this is where the wow factor is needed.
Some examples of these were later veneered to the sides in walnut to make them more valuable, but it is now thought having the original oak sides is a plus as that is the original.
