Description

A charming oil on canvas study of what we are interpreting as the south coast of England and the White Cliffs of Dover.

Details include figures on the beach, to the distance cliffs and in the foreground a house, possibly a garrison looking out to sea.

Unframed with further, feint pencil writing to the reverse. Original hanging ring to top edge.

Presented in decorative, antique condition of over 200 years age. A couple of old puncture repairs to the each of the lower corners which have been completed to a good standard and overall age related ageing to the surface finish. The painting could be cleaned but we feel that fresh, bright colours would take something away from the charm of the image.
