Description

A lovely French Pier Mirror dating from the late 18th century C.1770 Louis XVI period. Rococo in style typical of the period. Carved wood gessoed and gilded. There are a few very small pieces missing from the carving from the bottom of frame. The asymmetrical crest and carving down the sides is all complete. The gilding is rubbed in places as one would expect, showing the red bole under the gold leaf. The whole in genuine condition. The silvered mirror plate is slightly mottled. The back boards are of oak and the whole is very heavy. It measures with the frame
