A late 19th century oil on canvas depicting Melrose Abbey in moonlight.The painting has significant wear throughout which gives the work a haunting air. The work remains very atmospheric with the moonlight through the central window still beaming through on to the ground and the outline of the abbey looming out of the darkness.
