Victorian Ratcliff Brass Postal Letter Scales

Description
A beautiful set of postal scales by Edmund Ratcliff dating to around 1880. As can be seen in the photos, the scales are in lovely antique condition with all cube-shaped weights present. Ratcliff were the only makers to produce weights in this shape. Stamped to the brass letter platform is E. RATCLIFF MAKERS. The scales balance nicely and all parts have been cleaned, polished and waxed. The mahogany base measures 25.5 cm wide as has a depth of 11.8 cm. The maximum height of the scales (including the base) is 14 cm.If you have any questions, please get in touch.
