Description

This is a beautiful and rare set of fourteen Regency period (fine-grain) mahogany dining chairs, The heavy and robust chairs are generously proportioned, with deep and comfortable seats and generous back leg curves. The chairs are finely detailed with crisply carved flowers in the back panel and featuring the early type of close reeding on the top of the rails, across the front rail, the top of the arms and on the inside of the back supports. The chairs are ulpholstered in a beautifully worn claret leather. Very fine quality indeed.

Two of the chairs include a name plate for Bartholomew and Fletcher who operated from 1843. It is believed that this firm reupholstered the chairs in the late 19th Century,
