An oak work table from St. James's Palace

Description

Raised on turned legs with a slide to accommodate a work bag, above which is a single drawer with original lock and wooden knobs and molded edge top with hinged flaps. In good and original condition. 670mm high, 650mm wide ( open ) 325mm wide ( closed ) and 475mm deep.

The table bears the inscription:

"This table was made from an Oak Beam
taken out of the Chapel Royal St James's Palace
during the progress of the alterations in 1836
It was placed there in the Reign on Henry VIII
An Dom 1531"
