Description

This chest is in very good and original condition and has a good colour and patina, it also has some unusual features, the brushing slide, unlike most chests of the period, is underneath the top drawer, the drawer linings are in mahogany and when the top drawer is removed there are 2 secret drawers concealed at the back. In addition when the third drawer is taken out, initials I.S. and the date 1783 are inscribed on the back board, these are original to the chest and probably left by the craftsman who made, what must have been, a specially commissioned piece. 850mm high, 860mm wide and 580mm deep.
