Description

An early 19th century Georgian mahogany apothecary box.

The box has a hinged lid, brass carrying handles and a drawer kept closed by a brass locking pin.

The lid opens to a fitted interior with 16 compartments to hold bottles.

The drawer is unusual in that the front part has two compartments with sliding lids holding a glass mortar & pestle, 3 miniature measures in leather boxes and two jars.

The mid part of the drawer has a lift out tray holding scales and weights and underneath is a box wood tube holding a thermometer, a pill rolling knife and spare stick on labels.

The rear of the drawer has six compartments holding small bottles with stoppers.

To each side of the tray are two tin plate pill containers with hinged lids.
