Description

Circa 1880. Victorian carved and gilded overmantel mirror with Edinburgh makers label on the back, the mirror with a stylish pediment including an oval Wedgewood Jasper plaque, with foliate carving on each side, containing its original mirror plate with a simple slip with a moulded section, the uprights with carved capped pilasters with a flowerhead on the base, and scrolling foliate casting to the sides. The trade label on the back is P’.D. Torre and Company, Carvers. Gilders and Looking Glass manufacturers, 81 Leith Street Edinburgh’, the mirror is in excellent condition, with slight foxing in one location.
