Description

Circa 1980 A large mahogany and inlaid hooded Orkney chair signed by ‘Robert Harcus Towers’. The straw back with hood tied off with marram grass, fixed to mahogany uprights, with a drop in marram grass seat, shaped arms supported by simple uprights, fixed to the frame with brass screws. An inlaid drawer with cast brass swan handles and checkered inlay, the inlay occurs on the sides and the back of the chair also, the chair rest on square legs with a slight chamfer on the insides, known in the local dialect as a ‘heided stool’.
