Description

Circa 1860. A pair of early Victorian portraits (recently re-lined) depicting a husband and wife. The lady sitting in a stylish armchair, wearing a veil with a vase of flowers on the table beside her, the husband is seated’ wearing a dickie bow and reading a paper, could be the ‘Edinburgh Courier’. Each of the paintings has a simple gilded slip and is contained in a well carved gilded gesso frame with concave sections and further beading to the outside edge.
