Description

Circa 1790. A good George III mahogany and inlaid Adam style tea caddy. The top with its flame mahogany oval shell inlay, broad crossbanding in boxwood and rosewood and an axe head drop lifting handle. The top is hinged and open to reveal three divisions inside, to the front is a classic form of a pair of urns connected by swags of blue harebells, with further crossbanding similar to that of the top. The gables have stars in the center of panels and the whole piece rests on four elegant brass ball and claw feet.
