Description

Circa 1830, late George IV gilded and gesso triptych overmantel mirror. The classical top with a concave section and gilded balls above the apron with a scene of ladies dancing in the centre, a gentleman playing instrument on the right and a lady with an urn on the left. Each of these sections is divided by carved gesso with classical flowers, urns and stands. Beneath this is an unusual circular centre mirror with a bevelled edge, contained within a carved section of swags, ribbons and tails and surrounded by a scratch carving in the form of sunburst. The 2 side mirrors are rectangular and have a bevelled edge as well. The 3 mirrors are separated by flat pilasters with carved capital tops. At the base there is a double carved pattern which continues all the way around the front and the sides of the mirror. The mirror has been restored sympathetically and has also been re-gilded. Neat size and unusual style.

Size 91cm high x 139.5cm wide x 10cm deep.
