Description

Circa 1880, Victorian gilded overmantel mirror. The top of the frame is arched with a pediment with a ribbon and foliate carving at each side of it. At each side of this there is a concave section and at the top corner there is a further carved section with similar ribbons of slightly smaller scale. The concave section continues down the front and as it expands at the bottom there are carved ribbons again. The side of the mirror tapers away and finishes on the bottom on a plinth with a simple moulding. The mirror has a wonderful colour as it has aged and mellowed. The glass is original with no major flaws. The gilding on the mirror has been touched up and has a good consistency throughout.
