Description

Circa 1830, late George IV/early William IV burr walnut display table/bijouterie table. The oval top is divided into two D shaped glazed doors, which open and are held in place with a brass locking arm. The inside is lined in felt and the frames are mahogany. Both compartments are lockable. Beneath the top, is a burr walnut apron with an unusual carved and stained gesso beading on the top and bottom. All standing on stylish trestle ends. At each end is an upright with a Corinthian capitol on top, over a fluted tapering column and acanthus leaves at the bottom. There is a turned bulbous cross stretcher uniting the elongated rounded burr walnut ends, which stand on brass castors. An unusual display table which would be ideal for showing collections or for a shop. Good quality and great condition.
