Late 19th C French Silk Brocade & Velvet Theatrical Costume Mens frockcoat Jacket
The Jacket is made in the 18th century aristocrats attire style

" L. & H. Nathan (1790-1972) was a leading supplier of historical costumes for the British theater, providing apparel for amateur dramatic theatricals, fancy dress balls and masquerades, and the professional stage for close to 200 years. The collection consists of 530 costume designs, property designs, studies, and photographs from 18 theater productions in London and two unidentified productions. More than 200 items are associated with Charles Karl, the head designer at Nathan's from 1885 to 1934. Notable items include costume designs for a young Edward Gordon Craig in Julius Caesar, ca. 1895, and for Julia Neilson and F. H. Macklin in a Henry Irving production of Cymbeline from about 1895.

Unfortunately I do not know the production or the actor that was made for but it is exquisitely made with the finest materials
and even the (metal) buttons are covered with braided gold thread pattern.
Dusky Pink Lined Interior Pink & Green Floral Swags on (originally) cream ground.
Burnt Orange Velvet Sleeves with braided gold thread embellishments.

Dimensions:
44 cm from shoulder to shoulder, about 1 meter long.

Condition:
The fabric has darkened over the years and the jacket shows signs of age and use.
The seam on the back has come unstitched on the top part of the coat an a couple of other places.
There is other wear and tear on buttons and hems
