French School c1730 Portrait of an Aristocrat.A substantial portrait of a gentleman, bewigged, wearing a scarlet robe, gold waistcoat and jabot. French in origin, dating to around 1730 and presented in a magnificent ribbed frame with acanthus leaf corners.
Condition
The canvas has been lined, probably in the 19th century and mounted on a replacement cross stretcher. Minor repainting to the background. The frame has some repairs to the beading on the edge and is slightly warped.
