Antique French silk Armorial banner

Description
A beautiful 19th-century hand-painted silk French armorial banner in a distressed ebonised frame. The delightful silk banner is decorated with fourteen "ermine spots" where in heraldry, they are especially associated with the Duchy of Brittany. The Armorial banner is fringed with a silver metallic fringe and is in remarkable condition (a few minor losses to the silk), considering the age and delicate nature of antique silk. This does not detract from the wonderful decorative appeal of the banner. The silk banner has been enclosed between two pains of glass with a ebonised frame.DateMid 19th Century :
