Description
A very good Staffordshire spill vase model of Mary and Joseph, with Mary holding the baby Jesus and riding on a donkey on their way to Bethlehem.A lovely old Staffordshire group which is made for holding spills in a fireplace. Spills were used (in my day) for lighting candles and the fire in the lounge.
It was made in the late 18th century, circa 1780, and apart from one donkey ear and Joseph's had being glued back on and a scuff chip to the inside of the vase, it is in good condition.
The hight to the top of the spills vase is 21 centimeters or 8.5 inches, and the base is 18cms by 12cms.
