Description

Cased solid silver Christening set by Martin Hall & Co.

A wonderful solid silver christening set in its original case. Comprising of four pieces of silver, a knife, fork, spoon and serviette ring. Each of them are fully hallmarked and inscribed for the child being given them, whose name is "Sammy Guppy". Sammy Guppy is a name I have not come across before, but hopefully someone will recognise it and re-unite this set with the family.
All of the four pieces are made by the very respected silversmiths Richard Martin and Ebenezer Hall, who from individuals later became Martin Hall and Company. They had offices and workshops in both Sheffield and London, and these pieces were made in both places:
Knife - hallmarked Sheffield 1871
Serviette ring - hallmarked Sheffield 1871
Fork - hallmarked London 1857
Spoon - hallmarked London 1857

The condition of the silver is excellent, with the box in good condition but showing scuffs of the years.

UK postage is £10.00.
