Pair Case English Verge Repousse Hallmark London 1792
You are bidding on an outstanding English silver repoussé pair case verge pocket watch, Hallmark London 1792. The watch is coming with a key and is working well.
Dial: The white enamel has black Roman numerals, outer minute division and blued hands. The dial has a crack by the 12.
Movement: The key wind movement is a gilt fusee driven verge with round pillars, nice, engraved admiral figure and pierced cock with floral decoration, running the full length of the fusee chain. The movement is working well, however we cannot guarantee accuracy due to its age.
Case: The silver repousse pair case shows a beautiful engraving of ancient Greece mythological scene at the back. The case is Hallmark London 1792 coming with original watch paper.
REPOUSSE: A decorative treatment of metal. The metal is hammered or punched up from the reverse side to form a decoration or design when viewed from the face or front. Used on watch cases, especially in the 17th and 18th centuries.
