Description

Silver & Mother of Pearl, early George V, Fruit Knife
Hallmarked for Sheffield 1911
The maker`s mark - JYC for John Yeomans Cowlishaw,
Market Street, Sheffield.
A small, very pretty fruit knife in little used condition.
The blade opens and closes correctly, to the fully open and closed positions, but with no snap.

The mother of pearl facing on the same side as the hallmark is prettily engraved with leaves and stems very much like the strawgerry. A vacant, oval, silver cartouche in the centre of the front mother of pearl.
Excellent hallmarks and clean deep thumb nail groove.
I think the hinge covers may be nickel, not silver.
114 years old.

Open length:- 119 millimetres.
Closed length:- 71 mms.
Knife weight:- 18.8 grams.
