Description

A good quality Victorian oak revolving office armchair, circa 1890, in good working condition. The chair features a curved shaped back, with scroll arms. A bank of turned spindles connect the shaped back and arms to the oak seat frame. The chair frame and seat is constructed in oak and is well polished. The medulla rays in the timber are superbly pronounced. The chair features a “saddle” seat, which is extremely comfortable. The chair sits on four splayed oak legs that have replacement castors fitted. The chair rotates 360 degrees the seat height can be adjusted by turning a ribbed metal screw on the underside of the chair. The tension of the reclining action can be adjusted by turning the large screw and the chair can be raised or lowered on the central steel thread. The Victorian metalwork is superb, it has been cleaned and is in good working order. The chair also features a reclining action. There is some play in the action, which is normal for a chair of this age. There is some evidence of a historic repair to the left arm.
