Description

This fun bug brooch is typical of the of the whimsical sense of fun in jewellery design of the late Victorian and early Edwardian period.

The brooch is designed as a winged insect with with 1 mm almandine garnet cabouchon eyes, 1.5 to 2mm pearl set wings with 3mm pearl back, and with a 5 x 3.75mm turquoise cabochon representing the abdomen.

The bar is 35mm long, and at its widest point spans 16mm across the insect.

The yellow gold bug sits diagonally across the gold safety pin style bar, which for added security benefits from a base metal safety chain and fastener.
