Rare and unusual Tibetan Antique Ritual Oracle Diadem Skull Crown.

Late 19th - early 20th Century.

Brass crown decorated with dragons and mounted with carved Yak bone flaming skulls, along with draped bone beads and fabric pennants.

The 5 skull crowns represent the union of 5 transcendent insights that constitute enlightenment and the 5 Buddhas that embody those wisdoms.

The crown was worn in rituals by trance mediums (Oracles) who channeled deities or spirits.

Good condition for age and rarity. The decorative flames are missing from the front skull, and also the side flame from the skull at rear left.
