Description

Antique French Folk Art - Carnival Masquerade Pierrot - Shooting Target Game by Saussine C. 1920.

Rare French theatrical folk art style shooting game - Les Surprises De Pierrot (Pierrot’s Surprises). Circa 1910 - 1920.

Very charming and beautiful vintage circus / carnival masquerade / folk art style antique game that displays very attractively as a wall hanging artwork.

The Pierrot is depicted sitting at a table drinking Champagne, and in the window behind a black cat slides & changes to a Harlequin with a candle, and a Pigs head appears rising out of a pie.

Printed artwork laid on 3-dimensional wooden boards & frame, with levered / sliding mechanisms to change the scenes and characters.

The sliding mechanism’s still work, but some adjustments may make them smoother.

Some wear to the printed paper, marks from the shooting impact, aging to colour, and small cracks to the wood, appropriate to the age. The game probably once had a back board covering, but the mechanisms are now interestingly exposed. Generally in solid condition and displays very attractively with a nice vintage colour.

Has a bracket for wall mounting.

W: 52 x H: 40 x D: 10 cm.
