Description

A very good quality, vintage Sterling Silver Scottish Quaich made by Hamilton & Inches of Edinburgh. The famous Edinburgh Jewellers & Silversmiths were founded in 1866 and have held the Royal Warrant as silversmiths to Her Majesty the Queen for over 120 years. Hamilton & Inches are still trading from their premises at 87 George Street, Edinburgh.
A very nice, silver Quaich with Celtic border and free of engravings or personal inscriptions.
The Quaich was assayed in Edinburgh, it is hallmarked with the maker's mark "H&I" for Hamilton & Inches, the Scottish thistle Sterling Silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter R for 1972/73.
The Quaich measures 4" inches (100mm) in diameter (across the bowl) and measures just under 5 3/4" inches (145mm) in width across the lugs. The weight is 167g.
It is in excellent condition.
