Intarsio Vase by Frederick Rhead For Foley Pottery

An Intarsio Vase, of globular form with quatrefoil arched handles, decorated with irises in colours against a green ground, the neck with yellow fish-scale motif.
R.d number 330282 for 1898

In 1896 Frederick joined Wileman & Co (Foley Pottery ) as Arts Director. Within a short period of time he introduced several different earthenware ranges. The most popular range was Intarsio. Frederick Alfred Rhead was only at Wileman’s until 1905 as Arts Director. But in those nine years he changed both the china and earthenware by improving the quality of the ware and introducing new ranges. The reputation of the company was such that they were producing art ware for Liberty’s of Regent Street, London.

Condition is excellent with no damage that I can see, a little crazing to the base , I mention to be accurate
