Description

Antique English Penwork Sewing Box / Basket C.1820

An absolutely charming Regency sewing box in the form of a basket with it's original bentwood folding swing handle.
The domed top features a figural inspired by Adam Buck etching “ Mamma, Don't Make Me Beg in Vain, Please Read That Pretty Book Again ,“ c1808. Indeed part of that motto remains to the interior

Condition: Sorry no key. The box remains in superb condition for its age , just a few nibbles to one of the knobs holding the handle, and a minor surface cracking to the lid. See pictures.
Size : 8 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 5" tall and 8 1/2" to top of handle.
