Wonderful Scottish Sampler dated 1932.Beautifully executed. Initialled ETM.
"Gang East Gang West Hame's best"
Go east go west Home's best.
Very nicely stitched, showing a water well, horse and carriage, man and woman holding hands, a dog, pair of ducks and trees.
In good over all condition, some staining to the bottom edge of the sampler. Retains the original Oak frame with a nice detailed mahogany stringer to the front of the frame. The glass has been replaced at some point.
Similar sampler dated 1927 held in the National Trust Collection.
Measures 45cm tall 30cm wide 1cm deep
