Description
Beautiful Indo-Portuguese carved wood and polychrome religious Statue,c1740. This is an early example most probably from Goa and depicting a Saint. It is a remarkable survivor in good original antique condition, structurally sound with a central crack, but this is only on the surface and is clearly historical and part of the ageing process. Exactly as you would expect from a piece of this age. The painted decoration is still strong and the wood has taken on great colour / patina after hundreds of years of handling and use.
