Description
Rare and unusual late 19th century ritualistic axe,c1880. It is cast in bronze or copper and shaped in a traditional South East Asian ancient style ,but from the decoration and form I think it is Tibetan or Mongolian. This is undoubtedly a Shamanic/ritualistic piece as the blade is not sharpened and there is something inside which makes a rattling sound. The decoration is lovely and different on both sides and the handle is shaped as the head of a mythical beast. The metal has taken on a lovely rich colour/patina and overall condition is good.Price includes FREE UK delivery, please contact me regarding international shipping.
