Description

Rare and interesting collection of 6 late 19th century Shamanic pieces from Northern Thailand,c1880. The wands are used in Shamanic rituals and are passed down through the generations. They are made from dried tree roots which makes them very hard wearing. Each is hand carved and intricately decorated with etched Chakra sacred symbols. The bead is a very large example made from hand carved bone with cord wrapped around the centre. The bone has had a dark lacquer applied with symbols etched into it. it is traditionally worn by a Shaman whilst using the wands to conduct rituals. Overall condition is good and all the items have taken on great colour/patina following years of use.
