Description

Two 19th century hand Carved Inuit bone Tupilak/Tupilaq bone figures,c1890. In Greenlandic Inuit religion a Tupilak was an avenging creature produced by a Shaman to protect its owner against enemy attack, it is therefore highly significant in traditional rituals etc. These are very typical in form and are beautifully carved with fine detail to the face, fingers etc. They would be a great addition to any collection of Inuit/tribal art. Overall condition is good with no obvious defects and the bone has taken on great colour/patina following years of use.
