Description

Two antique early 20th Century Inuit carved stone statues, c1920. Both are well carved, and depict a hunter with a bear and a seal or walrus.

The colour of the stone is different - so we assume they are carved from different materials. Both are marked on the base with numbers/letters scratched into the stone (as shown in the last photo). We presume this was done by the carver, but we do not know their significance.

The statues have aged well, with great rich colour/patina. Overall condition is good, with only minor surface wear/rubbing and some very minor chips. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact us with any questions.
