Description

Early 20th century African Tikar (Cameroon) tribal bronze maternity statue, c 1920. This is a large, heavy (6 kg), fine quality example well cast in the traditional lost wax method. It has good decoration with the highly stylised and exaggerated features (stomach, hands, feet etc) one would expect from an older example. There is a nice finial of a figure playing a musical instrument on the head of the main figure. It has the usual casting holes etc but overall condition is good with only minor wear and rubbing.
