Description

A very large, antique 19th Century carved and painted wood religious statue, c1870. It depicts Joseph standing with a young Jesus holding a cross. This is an imposing piece, standing at 4-feet 6-inches (141cm) tall.

The quality of the carving and the paint decoration is high, and it has just the right amount of 'distress' to the paintwork, etc., to give it real decorative presence. It is in good original condition with minor surface wear, age-related cracks to the wood, minor paint loss/flaking and chips. A small section of the cross by Jesus is missing. All minor and as you would expect from a piece of this age - which would have been displayed in a church for around 150 years.
