Description

A superb quality longcase clock fitted with a musical movement playing on 4 or 8 bells. It is by William Henry & Samuel Jackson, London. They are listed as working there from 1851. The movement is of high quality and has a dead beat escapement and Harrison maintaining power. It has a silvered dial with subsidiary seconds dial, strike/silent selector and a selector for Cambridge chimes (8 bells) and 4 bells.

The case is also of superb quality, it is veneered in beautifully figured mahogany with cross banding and ebony and boxwood inlay. The hood has brass side frets and delicate fretwork panels to the swan neck pediment, both lined in red silk. The top of the hood has superb original gilt brass flame finials. Both the trunk and hood have their original working locks and keys.

The movement has been overhauled and is in perfect working order and keeping good time. The case has also been sympathetically restored and has retained its original finish.

If purchased at the full asking price the clock will be sold with a 12 month guarantee (based on the movement being returned to Watlington for attention)
