Finely knotted by armenian weavers in western turkey. Design based on 17th century transylvanian prayer rugs see last image,which are very hard to source and cost an exorbitant amount of money when they do appear. . This is a later 19th century example but nevertheless still has the presence and look of an original and even these later examples are getting harder to find. This example has low pile with wear. Nevertheless still looks stunning hung on a wall,

size is 5 foot 7 inches by 4 foot 1 inches. 170cm x 125cm. Very fine wool pile hand knotted onto very fine cotton foundations.
