Description

An English Modernist / Cotswold School oak chapel chair designed by Dick Russell for the newly rebuilt Coventry Cathedral in 1962. The chairs were made by Gordon Russell Ltd, Broadway.

Provenance: From the Gordon Russell family estate, passed down the family by descent. This is an early example, possibly one of the prototypes as there is much quarter sawn timber on show.

Condition: Offered in very good original condition with evidence of wear to the finish consistent with age and use. No evidence of any significant damage or repair. The frame stands firm and strong with no movement. Refinishing can be offered - price on request.

Dimensions: Width 53cm, Depth 44.5cm (at the seat) & Height 72cm (at the back) or 43.5cm at the seat.
