Colin Graeme Roe (1858-1910)
Lovely quality painting of two dogs beside their masters glove.
Yorkshire artist, Roe was from the Sheffield area and is thought to be the son of Robert Henry Roe. He signed his work both ‘Colin Graeme Roe’ and ‘Colin Graeme’. This highly gifted artist was known for his excellent depiction of Scottish highland sporting scenes. He excelled in the virtuoso use of impasto to enhance the texture of his paintings. Roe was particularly fond of painting dogs including setters (both the Gordon and Irish varieties) and also English pointers.
This painting is both signed and dated 1902.
