Description
A richly patinated tan leather Gladstone bag. Circa 1920.Originally used by Doctors for carrying medical equipment and papers, Gladstone bags were favoured by medical professionals for their practicality and versatility when making home visits. Latterly, they became popular with wealthy individuals for overnight bags, and weekend travelling.
This example is deeply patinated, yet still in usable condition, with replaced zips and working locking rail across the opening.
