Description

Very nice and unusual late 18th to early 19th century mahogany and boxwood and ebony inlaid miniature bracket clock of exquisite quality.

This lovely shape wee clock was made around the end of the 18th century with typical moulded top, nice shape plinth and ebony and boxwood inlaid canted corners.

Originally I think it was made for holding a watch as the front section is hinged but it has been converted in the later part of the 19th century into a working timepiece with a very good quality French movement fitted.

The front brass bezel is cast as is the rear movement door. The front part of the clock no longer opens with the movement fitted. It is in full working order and keeps very good time.

The case is a lovely colour and patination only achieved from years of waxing. Basically a very nice and unusual clock.
